Coronary heart disease is the most common heart disease in the United States, which usually manifests as a heart attack. It is believed that every 25 seconds, an American experiences a coronary event.
Aside from consuming healthy food and performing adequate exercise, we can also avail of some extremely effective acupuncture points on our body to keep our heart in a good state of health. These acupoints incude:
1. Ji-quan points (HT 1):
The Ht 1 point is the highest point inside the armpits and is associated with the heart energetic system. Massaging these two acupoints bilaterally can be extremely effective in preventing and treating heart diseases. They can bolster heart function by quickly and efficiently distributing blood. The easiest way to massage these points is to pluck the tendons inside the armpits, if some kind of numbness on the little fingers is felt, this means you are doing it right. You can begin by performing a gentle motion, adding a little pressure as you get used to the sensation depending on your own tolerance.
When these points are plucked and stimulated, it can help treat tightness in the chest, numbness in the arms, irregular heartbeats caused sadness caused by sadness and anger. They can also boost the function of the liver.
2. Nei-guan points (Pc 6):
The Pc 6 or pericardium 6 acupuncture points are the located at the center point of the arms. They are about 3-cun from the wrist. A ‘Cun’ is the measuring distance of an acupoint from one body part to another: one cun is equivalent to the width of your thumb at the mid joint, two-cun is the width of middle three fingers at the mid joint and 3-cun is the width of your four fingers (excluding the thumb) at the mid joint.

3. Shen-men point (Ht 7)
The Shen-men acupuncture points are the main acupoints related to the heart meridians. These points can be found along the little finger on the inner side of the wrist where there is a hard tendon, it is located in the intersection of the the wrist line and the tendon.
Stimulating the Shen-men point can help calm the heart. When it is massaged, it can treat or prevent heart diseases, forgetfulness, uneasiness, depression, and sleeping problems.
Tips to maintain the health of the heart
1. Massage the area of heart reflection on the bottom of the left foot: This area is found at the upper and outer 1/3 lines on the bottom of your left foot.
2. Sleep on your right side: Since your heart is located on the left side of your body, the physical pressure on the heart is reduced when you sleep on the right side.
3. Stay cheerful and happy: A healthy person is typically a happy individual. Our physical body is very much connected to our emotions and the best medicine for any disease is happiness.
